Bembe for the Mothers:

A Festival in Honor of the Goddesses

from the Yoruban Tradition

With Luisah Teish

Saturday, May 10th, from 1-5 pm in the Dojo

Join us in celebrating our Divine Mothers the day before Mother’s Day!

This ceremony will include revering the ancestors,

and the male and female deities of the Yoruban pantheon,

with emphasis on the Goddesses, being Oya, Queen of the winds of change,

Yemaya, the Mother ocean,

and Oshun, Goddess of love and beauty.

Please wear white and other bright colors, with a handkerchief or scarf of the color of your

element (earth, air, fire, water); please do not wear black. Bring small instruments such as

rattles and cymbals, and a sacred object to place on the altar.

There will be feasting at the end of the ceremony.

Donations are appreciated.
