Event Info: Dr. Barbara Tedlock, the author of the recent award-winning book, The Woman in the Shaman’s Body (2005), will give a talk exploring the history of women in shamanism, dreams in shamanic traditions, and Mayan culture and divination. Barbara and Dennis Tedlock will be offering a workshop on Shamanic Energy Healing on Saturday, November 11, 2006, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. For more info call: 650-906-8480. Bio: Barbara Tedlock, Ph.D., is a trained and initiated shaman by the Ojibwe of Canada and the K’iche’ Maya of highland Guatemala. She is a medical anthropologist and trained shamanic healer who has worked extensively with indigenous herbalists, bonesetters, midwives, and other shamanic healers in the Americas, Africa, and Asia. Barbara is a Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at SUNY, Buffalo and is currently editing a new book called, Shamanic Healing in Western Healthcare Today. |
