Feminist Research
  Methods

The Center for the Divine Feminine (CDF) at ITP is celebrating the third year of our Tuition Scholarship Program. This year’s program builds on the previous two years which has provided awards to 24 students from ITP and other related graduate programs. The focus of this program is to fund research to further the education and awareness of the Divine Feminine, the Divine Masculine, transpersonal psychology, and Feminist studies.

We want to thank all of the people who have contributed to the success of this program through financial donations and those working on research and projects focused on the many aspects of the Divine Feminine. As you can imagine, the need is great and there is more work to do.

CDF Scholarship Overview

The Center for the Divine Feminine Scholarship Program is offering tuition scholarships in the range of $2000-5000 to residential and global Master’s level and Ph.D. students at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Scholarships are awarded based on a study’s emphasis on its connection to the Divine Feminine, the Divine Masculine, and/or a balance between the two; the project’s contribution to the field of transpersonal psychology and the Divine Feminine; or Feminist studies that includes some element of the sacred in them.

As part of community outreach, one or more scholarships will also be offered to other institutions, particularly those with a transpersonal, spiritual, and /or Divine Feminine focus.

Applicants must provide written permission to post a summary abstract of their completed work on the CDF website and may be invited to present at various CDF events. They will be asked for an interim follow-up report that can be posted, if appropriate and available.

Criteria for Selection:

In selecting scholarship recipients, the following criteria will be considered:

  • Centrality of the Divine Feminine, Divine Masculine or Feminist themes and the impact of the study’s contribution to the field
  • Scholarly excellence to include quality of project design, originality of project, and significance of project to discipline (aspects of Divine Feminine and a limited number of gender studies).
  • Diversity contribution
  • Feasibility of project and proposed schedule
  • Qualifications of applicant/applicant’s experience
  • Potential of applicant to make a significant contribution to the field
  • Applicant’s accountability to community and to professional applications (Applicant’s willingness to "give back" through presentations, posting summary on website)
  • Applicant is not a previous recipient of the CDF scholarship program.
  • Date of completion of the study is not before the award grant date (September of the award year).
  • Plans for conference presentations and articles.

Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence and demonstrated active commitment to supporting and advancing the field of transpersonal psychology and the Divine Feminine through service in their communities, professions, and research.

Other criteria considerations for applicants include:

  • Good academic standing
  • Must be in the proposal phase with either an approved proposal by the full committee or reviewed by the chair and in process to go to committee (accompanied by a letter from Committee Chair regarding the validity of the overall study)

Selection Process

  1. Applicants are reviewed by a panel of Divine Feminine Center members and/or scholars in the field.
  2. All criteria requirements are reviewed.
  3. Applications are prioritized and awarded amounts based on meeting those requirements.

Deadline - CLOSED FOR 2008-2009

Application Guidelines

The process of preparing an application for a scholarship from the Center of the Divine Feminine requires careful thought and preparation through each step of the entire process. The information below will assist you in the preparation of your application.

Know the minimum qualifications for the scholarship, and if you do not meet the application requirements, please do not apply

Follow directions. For example, if the application limits you to a 3-page overview, do not go over 3 pages, but neither should you write only one paragraph.

Have a strong writer read and edit your essay for structure, grammar, redundancy and logic. Evaluators will mark you down if your essay is unclear, incomplete or difficult to understand.

All paper submissions must be typewritten.
